A cargo lift can be a simple, yet very sturdy piece of equipment. Install it properly and care for it well, and it will serve you for many, many years. Of course, sometimes some preparations must be made on your property before you can install a cargo lift, or beach house lift. If you have a balcony with a railing and your lift needs to open there, then that railing will have to be adjusted to you can unload your lift. The ground around your property may need an addition or adjustment for a steady lift, too. There are a few things to consider when it comes to preparing your property for a cargo lift.
Balconies and Railings
The overall purpose of a lift, or beach house lift is to make getting items from the ground level of your building to a second, or third level. In order for this to work, you need to be able to unload those items. If your house has multiple stories, but no balcony, or similar platform on which to access the level, then the cargo lift will not suit your structure. You can always decide to build one if you want to make that sort of investment; for some people, doing so much to make room for a cargo lift is well worth the time and expense.
If you do have a platform, but it has a railing that prevents you from opening the cargo lift gate and unloading items, you will need to make room for that. This does not have to be a difficult or expensive project. At Easylift, we can advise you on the best course of action in that case.
Not everyone’s home is on purely even ground. Slopes, uneven soil, and added landscaping—such as rocks—could make installing the cargo lift a little more complex. In many cases, the ground around and near your home can be made more stable easily. For example, the landscaping could be changed just enough in that spot to make room for the lift. A stable base may be added if the soil is uneven. It is always good to ask the advice of your cargo lift provider, or manufacturer if you’re concerned about these things.
