Every year, the threat of hurricane devastation looms over coastlines and islands. Sometimes, locations that have not experienced weather like this in many, many years are suddenly hit with overwhelming force. The recent hurricanes battering the southern American coastline are reminders of that. In addition to being terrible for those in their path, these hurricanes are unfortunate reminders of the importance of being prepared.
Make a plan and get a beach house lift, or cargo lift.
For the average, single-story house, a plan to protect your home and evacuate is all you have. So, make it a great plan. Start early; the moment there is news of a potential storm, start packing what you know you will need, should you have to evacuate. Have a list of what you need, what might be useful, and what you want. When the time comes to put things together, you can determine what you can afford to take based upon how much time and room you have to travel. Make a plan to store items safely so that they’re less likely to get wet in the event of flooding, board up the house, and whatever measures you have to take. Plan to evacuate before it becomes mandatory so that you can avoid traffic as much as possible.
If you have a two-story home or beach house, a lift could be an incredibly useful part of the evacuation plan. Instead of carrying all of those items you need during evacuation down the stairs, you load the lift. The lift then moves those items down to your waiting vehicle. There is also a danger in trying to move all those things down the stairs yourself. If you’re in a hurry, you risk making a mistake and falling. If the weather has already begun to change, that risk is even higher.
We cannot control the weather. All we can do is be as prepared as possible. We hope that those who struggled in the recent hurricanes never have to do so again. However, should you want to make a beach house or cargo lift part of your evacuation preparation, call us at EasyLift.
